Padma Shri Aruna Sairam _/\_

ThePratsi on Sunday, August 25, 2013
I am a great fan of both these women, especially Sona. But this is one
disappointing song!

Vivek Rana on Sunday, August 25, 2013
disaster disaster of a mix

Balasubramaniam GD on Sunday, August 25, 2013
Quite contrasting just didn't sound right a Sloka with a film song ? Weird
must admit

Prasanth Gulfu on Sunday, August 25, 2013
noise .. nothing else

raj kamal joshi on Sunday, August 25, 2013
its such a disaster...don't know what idea they hv behind it...both of them
r gud in there areas but still dey agreed to purform such a heck..

Phani Vk on Sunday, August 25, 2013
Discordant. Would have preferred a tighter sloka/rock mix with some dubstep

karthik s on Sunday, August 25, 2013
Dear MTV, It's not traditional tamil prayer, it's a devi stotram in
sanskrit written by Adi shankaracharya and correct the spelling of stotram
and why dont you leave the devotional chants and mantras alone , In what
way it has a connection to tere ishq nachaya..how insensitive and
meaningless.

Javed Saikia on Sunday, August 25, 2013
I really the enjoyed Aruna's part. But what is the connection with Sona's
song! Disappointed..they should have made the song with Aruna only.

Pritam Nahal on Sunday, August 25, 2013
why..why? u have composed the prayers aigiri nandini in to a ishq nachaya
mixed it. .when i played at stating i really enjoyed the prayers of
padma shri aruna sairm, because since last 35 years i used to listen the
prayers every morning...then in middle u have added western music that O.K.
as we know the music have no language , but when sona sings the meaning
less words...it ruined the enter song...its again bad to hear from u

Gaurav Mathur on Sunday, August 25, 2013
ah :( Ram, sad to say you spoiled a brilliant singer like Aruna Ji with all
the metal stuff going on in the background. Would have loved this if it was
softer.

mebeliver on Sunday, August 25, 2013
omg omg! this 'rock' stuff is just three much for a prayer song like this!
i have so much respect for this song and i think the rock/metal stuff is
actually making it so commercial and the song has lost its religious value.
not a very good choice of fusion :(

Rajiv Ramaswamy on Sunday, August 25, 2013
absolute lack of creativity! whats the whole point of this 'excercise' sad
that azhagiri nandini has been reduced to a rock gig...thank God no changes
were made to how the song was sung...disappointed

Silver Dolphin on Sunday, August 25, 2013
MTV Coke studio Season 3. still no creativity and exclusivity seen as it
was in Season 2.. My rating yet for MTV coke studio season 3 yet is
still just 1 Star (out of 5)...

omsatya on Sunday, August 25, 2013
Aigiri Nandini is a powerful piece, I believe it would sound good with rock
as long as it is done properly. I enjoyed Aruna Ji's parts but I don't
think the other singers piece matched the meaning and the mood.

Mandeep Singh Sootdhar on Sunday, August 25, 2013
Am I only one who actually liked the composition? O_o

Rajesh Kumar on Sunday, August 25, 2013
Women of India need this Shakti now than ever!!

seduced10 on Monday, August 26, 2013
You are listening to the prayer since last 35 years? Dude you are too old
to be on the coke studio page anyways

manohar viswanatha on Monday, August 26, 2013
I have been listening to the stotram from my childhood , believe me if that
stotram is carried with a group of singers and correct pronunciation of the
words makes you slip in trance , Padma Shri Aruna Sairam part is so awesome
and fine if you add a rock cult to that maintaining the original rhythm but
where did that Ishq Nachaya come from .sonam ruined the song

manohar viswanatha on Monday, August 26, 2013
Aigiri nandini is from sankaracharya who described mother so awesomely like
no other could ever even imagined , .And this ishq nachayya
..i really pity you guys ...no words to express ruining the feel of
the stotram

manohar viswanatha on Monday, August 26, 2013
Hey Hipster (at least what you believe yourself) google the meaning of
Aigiri Nandini stotra ... you will get a sanskrit english translated
version . Go through all the stanzas and come back before you post your
next comment .Being Old or young doesn't make any difference when
somebody misuses the essence of something

manohar viswanatha on Monday, August 26, 2013
It seems like ram sampath wants to place sonam somehow in the song even
theres no space for her , this is what it happens then

Sona Mohapatra on Monday, August 26, 2013
Its OK for everyone to have an opinion so please feel free. Its also imp
that artistes share their stories & interpretations.Mahishasura Mardini
(read her legend) -Durga Ma is a powerful force & she symbolises a lot
beyond the obvious in this story. She kills-resorts to violence only to
protect her loved ones, for LOVE & not for domination, conquest or any
ego..Typically woman-mother ! Bulleh Shah's 'Tere ishq nachaya' is the
ultimate LOVE ode…here we celebrate SHAKTI & LOVE..both interlinked

K. Vinay Rao on Monday, August 26, 2013
Ram Sampath is definitely don't care about right the combo i guess. First
he ruined Kattey with introducing Hard Kaur in well going song of Bhanvari
Devi and now there is no connection between Aligiri nandini, Tere ishq
nachaya and the rock in between... Amit Trivedi or even Salim merchant
would have done a better job in it.

Sona Mohapatra on Monday, August 26, 2013
The spiritual reason for fusing this traditional Sanskrit Stotram & Bulleh
Shahs ode to surrender & love is one thing & our artistic prerogative in
any case BUT that apart are there no musicians/listeners here who have
noticed the interesting connection between Carnatic music & Progressive
Rock ? The counts .. the celebration of 'mythologies' ? In this case the
mythology #DEVI in her most fearful form, The killer of the great Asura-
Mahishasura ??

Vinay Venugopal on Monday, August 26, 2013
The soul of the stotram got lost in the mayhem of this fusion. I am in full
support of artistic freedom, but one really needs to listen to it being
chanted in a temple to realise how intense it sounds and how entranced you
would be. If that was done, perhaps the composers would have approached
this track very differently.

Parminder Gill on Monday, August 26, 2013
What a production ! Great work done by the most talented composer of our
country, Mr. Ram Sampath.

tsquared212 on Monday, August 26, 2013
So now Music offends you too? *clap clap clap*

Dhruv Joshi on Monday, August 26, 2013
WOW... DARK!

Valeria Sánchez on Monday, August 26, 2013
OH GOD! I love how Indians really keep these traditionalism in some way,
this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sandeep delar on Monday, August 26, 2013
seriously.coke studio disappointed this time.it could have been much better
if they could have mixed ayi giri nandini with deh shiva var mohe
ihe.sikh prayer ,sung before goin on to a war ,addressing
shiva ..d pwer of lord shiv or shakti .but both the respected
lyrics are nothing but a mismatch to each other...highly disappointed
this time

rajesh iyer on Monday, August 26, 2013
I have been chanting this stotram since my childhood. In all walks of life
it has given me power to withstand setbacks in life. Today I see this
powerful stotram being "mixed" with Ishq nacheya. When the words began of
the hindi number i felt like tearing my hair literally. There liberalized
Indians will one day rob us of all that we are proud of. It was really sad
this came from Aruna Sairam. How could she agree to this?

Parag Mamniya on Monday, August 26, 2013
Disappointed. Sona Mohapatra Big Disappointment this time

karthik karra on Monday, August 26, 2013
I wonder how did aruna sai ram has accepted to sing for such a
composition...she would have seen the final video before
releasing.atleast she would have corrected the title saying "tamil
prayer".very very irresponsible

anup nair on Monday, August 26, 2013
Shakti & Love... No better fusion than Shiv-Shakti... Sona's part is
frankly out of place. This could have been much much better. Sona should
have introduced a Shiv stotram or short mantra followed by few more stanzas
of Mahishasura Mardini. Requesting to Ram Sampat to try an extension

sammit prabhkar on Monday, August 26, 2013
if only, if , it didn't had d terey ishq part !! ds would have been a
flawless magical piece

garlapati sridhar on Monday, August 26, 2013
It shows how music directors compose songs with out knowing the meaning and
history of lyrics ...Music is very good undoubtedly..But Mixing of songs
really matters..How can Devi stotram correalates with Ishq nachaya..???

urkkgsr on Monday, August 26, 2013
Had to dislike this one .. Mahishasura Mardini Strotam has nothing to do
with any ishq . .and it's not a TAMIL parayer.

Sreejith Bhaskaran on Monday, August 26, 2013
Disappointed.very bad selection of songs.pls show respect to devotional
mantras

Kumar V on Monday, August 26, 2013
Please somebody cut the sona's part and end Aigiri again...

mdirtydogg on Monday, August 26, 2013
What I have been observing on Coke Studio is the extremely unimaginative
and copycat style of welding two or more disparate musical styles/lyrics
and call it fusion. Fusion is not just the ability to bring two different
styles of music into same musical notes. It is the seamless blend of the
two souls to form a new harmonious entity. What you chaps are creating are
musical abominations.

HariHaran Iyer on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
I'm not against the fusion of prayer with any kind of music but... It's so
obvious that this track is OFF... Wonder what Ram Sampath thinking when he
composed this and how did Aruna Sairam even agree to be a part of this??

HariHaran Iyer on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
Was thinking*

Satyajit C P on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
I listened with a smile. That's it.

Satyajit C P on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
Nothing and no one can insult our great stotras or spirituality. If you
think they can insult then you are belittling it. Everything is encompassed
within.good bad ugly..everything

jackhasanewass on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
there was no need of sona mahapatra in this song. what bakwas are these
guys dishing out.

Sujit Routray on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
The mix is so seamless..why people around are thinking of the opposite,is
beyond me...

Anugrah Mishra on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
this tracck is soo off beat. Sona could have been avoided

Som Shankar Bhattacharyya on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
Love the progressive structure of the composition. Nirdosh sobti u genius
... Wonderful rhythm guitars , also love the groove and rhythm guitars .
This is niche music ... Bits of it reminded me of the golden era of
prog-rock ... Thanks Ram Sampath for bringing magic here ...

Indrani Chatterji on Tuesday, August 27, 2013
I also feel the same as mdirtydogg . Work on the raga, the way Shantanu
Moitra or A.R Rahman doing ! Sanjoy Das (Bapi) I love your style, looking
good in half Bangalee and half Tamilian"s attire e :)
