Comments for song "Aigiri Nandini"
Mmrityunjay Nanda on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 The first part is brilliant ... But 2nd part doesn't even buzz . :(
Shivam Limaye on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 I don't know if the true aim of the Coke Studio is to try and achieve the
FUSION thing as you said, this sounds really good to me which the Sanskrit
mantra in it with the tight drums and dream theater-ish (if i may say)
riffs. Sounds killer to me man, so don't say that they are creating musical
abominations :)
TheExplorer78 on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 Scope of improvement for Coke Studio @ MTV.
Asrar Ahmed on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 They should release A.R. tracks at end of season no one is looks
interesting after that..
Ratish Menon on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 Gud mix. However it should have been limited to religious chanting. There
is passion in the song, but if Sona's bit were also a religious, it would
taken the song to a diff level
Rateesh Upendran on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 Selection and rendering of "Alagiri Nandini" is worth commendable.. but
sadly "Ishq Nachaya" didnt connect, felt like cold water on red hot iron..
very bad selection here.. didnt make any sense.. sorry to dislike!
mdirtydogg on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 Shivam Limaye, I am not complaining about the music alone.A musical
composition does not stand on its ability to appeal only to the ear.It is a
combination of the lyric too that appeals to your intellectual and
emotional senses. You tell me how Aigiri Nandini,a deeply devotional
hymn, praising mother goddess can be mated to Tere Ishq nachaya?I am not
talking about religious sentiments. There has to be harmony and connectivity
between the themes too.Anyway one man's mead is another man's poison.
Abhi Tk on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 what an excellent piece of crap..
Uday M. Shankar on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 began well.. but messed up miday. the chant is a a very powerful majestic
one... the song is too weak and the 'tere ishq nachaya' somehow doesnt gel
well with mahishasura mardhanam.
Hassaan M on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Overcooked!
tanmay patil on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Ramp sampath shows his talent
amohnish on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Perfectly stated.
amohnish on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 The guitar's trying too hard to come forth -- like a pretending teenage
kid. Why does no one feel so while the making of the whole track?!! It
isn't able to match the power of the vocals, in spite of such overt
attempt. Messes the whole composition, instead, in my opinion. Use the
Veena instead?
barkas mahesh on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 i thought whole song might be sung by aruna sairam...so sad..even though
its good
Raghavan Santhanam on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Comment 1 - Well, I have been watching the criticism on the Sufi lines,
"There Ishq nachaya . . ." sung by Sona Mahapatra as having no relation
with the Sanskrit shloka(hymn) "Ayi Girinandini . . ." sung by Aruna
Sairam.
Raghavan Santhanam on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Comment - 2 - If any of those care for knowing the meaning and intention of
those lines, they would have searched it and found that indeed the word
"Ishq" and the related ones are toward "Divine love" of a disciple(Baba
Bulle shah) for his master, as opposed to the stereotypical "love"
portrayed in movies, and hence the Sufi lines are in perfect sync with the
religious Sanskrit shloka.
ronak shah on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Contradictaory to the comments posted here, I still find this song
interesting..
srikrsnaparabrahman on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 I just had a funny thought. The first Aigiri Nandini is when Durga Devi
appears to kill Mahishasura and all the devas pray to her saying, "Jaya
Jaya" (May you be victorious) and so she blesses them and goes to
Mahishasura. He sees her and drools over her and says , "tere Ishq Nachaya"
:D and Durga Devi gets so enraged at his "Thaiya Thaiya" that she kills him
there itself. The gods are happy and again start singing, "Aigiri Nandini
Nandita Medini Vishwavinodini Nandinute..." :p How is it? :D
Ashish Dushila on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 was a good combo ...
abhilash valle on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 original version /watch?v=5xEbpyuAOWQ here
Santosh Seshabhattar on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Depends upon the musician/producer. We can't blame Coke Studio for that.
For example, AR Rahman's compositions in this very show were exceptional
whereas few others failed to attract.
Santu Roars on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Yeah!! that's way better fusion than this version. Thanks for the link.
Sandro Cottus on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Wow!! Better than this indeed. Thanks.
Ajit G. Kurup on Thursday, August 29, 2013 Can someone explain what is the meaning, the reason behind the creation of
something like this atleast? Didn't understand the reason of this fusion. A
stotram which describes a Goddess,and then,a song which describes a woman's
raw passion(if i am not wrong). What doea that imply? What did the maker
think when he made this?
Ajit G. Kurup on Thursday, August 29, 2013 But i must say, the way she chanted it, made my hair stand, and brought a
tear in my eyes. A minute more of thaat chant, uninterrupted, would have put
me in trance!
Ajit G. Kurup on Thursday, August 29, 2013 If someone would have studied the shloka and tried to explore a bit into
it, a better fusion would have been in place here. The shloka could have
been used to advantage.
Mohammed Anwer on Thursday, August 29, 2013 'Tere Ishq Nachaya' is actually a sufi rendition of a 'bhakt' for his
murshid. In this case, Bulleh Shah is writing about his murshid Sheikh
Farid. Nevertheless, I completely, totally, agree with you that trying to
fuse these two genre is like trying to mix oil and water.
Shivam Limaye on Thursday, August 29, 2013 Okay, I get what you're saying. Should have done more research before
laying down what I thought.
akshay bharadwaj on Thursday, August 29, 2013 CAN WE HAVE SOMETHING MORE ORIGINAL IN COKE STUDIO AND NOT JUST MAKE MUSIC
WITH THE LYRICS THAT WE HAVE.
mdirtydogg on Thursday, August 29, 2013 Thank you for your civil reply.
Around India 4k on Thursday, August 29, 2013 Best Part is from 0:00 to 0:25 after that you wud wish it wasn't there !!!
Sandro Cottus on Thursday, August 29, 2013 Not believing in god doesn't really make you a liberal. Atheists are
conservative as well, but in a different way.
Sandro Cottus on Thursday, August 29, 2013 These are pseudo-liberals..self-proclaimed liberals who deliberately (at
sometimes) or unknowingly attack the culture of a particular sect and when
we say it hurts our sentiments, they bash us calling us fundamentalists.
sangeethsagar on Friday, August 30, 2013 Please do not mix... this great gem to this Hindi idoicy..please
Sudip Basu on Friday, August 30, 2013 Aigiri Nandini.Durga Stotra with Tere Ishq Nachaya.what crap.this
episode of Ram Sampat was JOKE STUDIO.
Krishna Nagarajan on Friday, August 30, 2013 Not all fusions work, one needs to put their heart and soul in it.
disappointed.
Utube75 on Friday, August 30, 2013 when you start a shloka you have to finish it. Had I known, I wouldn't have
played this video.
mdirtydogg on Friday, August 30, 2013 Did I say that? If you read my post again, you would notice that my point
is not far off to what you wrote. That poster seems to think that a liberal
is an irreligious person with no respect to religion or tradition. I was
telling him not necessarily.Cheers.
mdirtydogg on Friday, August 30, 2013 And BTW, I AM a liberal person. Liberated from dogma and the chest thumping
jingoism. Not from reason and respect for individual freedoms.
Aravind Prakash on Saturday, August 31, 2013 Apparently, Ram Sampath is her hubby. It was inevitable. It was bound to be
ruined.
Chitra Raman on Saturday, August 31, 2013 I noticed also that the geniuses posting this clip identify Aigiri Nandini
as a "Tamil Devotional Song"! ( Watch carefully for the label at the
beginning of the clip) . Anyone on board know the difference between Tamil
and Sanskrit?
Chitra Raman on Saturday, August 31, 2013 Just in case some of you interpret my objection to this as Puritanism --
let me clarify that I'm all for creativity but not in a way that shows
complete ignorance of the meaning and context of sacred works that have a
deep significance for those who comprehend them.
Chitra Raman on Saturday, August 31, 2013 I am aware that Bulleh Shah is a famous Sufi poet whose love poems probably
had spiritual underpinnings. But when taken out of context in this manner
and staged with a heavy metal guitar backdrop, that aspect of Shah's poetry
doesn't exactly communicate. And the Aerosmith Effect is positively
discordant when paired with the deeply meditative rapture of the Durga
Stotram.
omnivor Rajan on Saturday, August 31, 2013 Totally agree! I felt the instruments weren't mixed well enough, either.
omnivor Rajan on Saturday, August 31, 2013 Nothing to do with dharam or religion... just bad music.
arjun babu on Saturday, August 31, 2013 dude its music, it doesn't have to stick to one genre, and abt the prayer
its always prayer, no matter how its fused..
navjyoth1 on Saturday, August 31, 2013 It didn't go well. Only the first part was good.
Anil G on Sunday, September 01, 2013 An Excellent Presentation :)
Sai Santosh on Sunday, September 01, 2013 chi chi..i don't like this yar.. i have a good version this
