gladitsmonday on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 It's either Hindi or Urdu, maybe both.
Indian isn't actually a language though, just so you know:)
HOTDesigirl on Friday, May 02, 2008 i thought it was by javed atkar
noorekhuda on Thursday, May 08, 2008 The music, lyrics and the voice of Udit Narayan to sum it all AMAZING.
noorekhuda on Thursday, May 08, 2008 This is Urdu language. Most of the songs in the the Indian movies are in Urdu.
sumpingrey on Thursday, May 08, 2008 ur right dude, the hindi used in indian movies is heavily influenced by urdu. this song has been written by gulzar, whose knowledge of urdu befits the beautiful language. but its hindi at the end of it!
sumpingrey on Thursday, May 08, 2008 javed akhtar is like a jamadaar in front of gulzar!!!!!!!
alaikumsalam786 on Sunday, May 11, 2008 noorekhuda is anyone asking you which language Indian movie songs are of? Or is it you lessen your guilt of watching Indian movies (instead of your country's movies) by presuming that its songs are in pure Urdu?
Your guilt complex is so obvious. The language of this song is neither pure Urdu nor pure Hindi, how would you know as you dont even know pure Urdu properly?
had1872 on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 actualy in bollywood movies dosn't go with pure urdu or hindi they mostly use mixture of both.see some words are in hindi and some are in hindi.and its everywhere.
getkat on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 Pls have a look at the lyrics of Yeh Tara Woh Tara from Swades before you quote.
Gulzar is good so is Javed Akhtar. Both have their own unique traits. Cheers !
eshanimongia on Saturday, May 17, 2008 Actually nowadays hindi and urdu have so much i n common that most people can't tell the difference. and the song would be beau in both lang.
had1872 on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 this movie is also good watch it once.
timanju on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 just wonder why some people are so lame to speak offensive abt others especially the sumpingrey guy/gal below( comment abt Javed Akhtar) .. grow up dude/ette !.. nothing harms if you can speak a bit of good abt others ..world will be a better place to live !
pramod5480 on Friday, May 23, 2008 There is no language such as Indian!!!
India has 122 major languages spoken by 10,000 people or more. There are thousands of dialects!!.
This language is a mix of hindi and urdu. The dialect does not specifically reflect any particular one. you can say its the film dialect :)
zipoem on Friday, May 30, 2008 feels like things going on me
SharukhFMAlolrandom on Monday, June 02, 2008 gulzar, dam this man has talent
quicsilver on Thursday, June 05, 2008 thats y all the indian films should be called URDU films and not HINDI. because pure hindi is VERY VERY different from urdu and if it werent for urdu, there wouldnt be much of a market for bollywood films. In conclusion, URDU is more commonly understood than HINDI and you can say the movies are responsible for that but the deception about language remains.
padophile on Friday, June 06, 2008 Secondly it is most unfortunate that the future of Urdu is in the hands of Indians, as they are the ones who create influential art work in movies and songs. And they are fast abandoning Urdu and moving towards Hollywood. Read Javed Naqvi column on dawn news, "Urdu-the dying language of India".
gaykhan on Friday, June 06, 2008 padophile: Urdu orginated in India so it will be not out of place if its future is in the hands of Indians. The reason Urdu is ok in Indian movie songs is that even if the audience do not understand the meaning of the song noone cares. For example 99% of Indians would not know the meaning of stanzas of "Chaiya Chaiya" song but noone cares as songs in Indian movies are considered Tea-Cigarrette time by the audience. With more and more directors going Hollywood style, who knows.
padophile on Friday, June 06, 2008 Mr Khan I understand that Urdu originated from India. The whole point is that the great Indian culture is an amalgamation of multiple languages. The most dominating langauge in India will be tie between Hindi and English(both official Indian languages). But we are a nation of more than 100 languages and all are to be respected. Urdu unfortunately is being upstaged, and only slight traces of it are left in few movie songs, which again noone understands. That is why Jawed Naqvi says it is dying.
sumpingrey on Monday, June 09, 2008 never thot i wud agree with someone called padophile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a dying language, however beautiful it may be- and NO ONE pronounces it properly, barring original speakers or those who know how to speak it (like me!!)..hindi is dying too btw
hchatha25 on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 i love this movie!it has sucha good story line!, its more than jus a love sotry!
thefountainhead100 on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 gr8 music..
lyrics are good but after hearing the lyrics in the tamil version i wudnt call them gr8..
one wud hav to know both the languages to appreciate the play of words in the tamil version..
but anyways.. good song
ktpunjab on Thursday, June 12, 2008 i consider ur comments not nice and only spreading hate. tamil music is very good.
ktpunjab on Thursday, June 12, 2008 brother, lyrics are SUPERB and GREAT. Only issue is that if poetry is just translated into any other language by a layman, it loses its essense and peotic value. Since I know Urdu, so I assure you that the lyrics are EXCELLENT written by GUlzar. And Gulzar is beyond any doubt a very good poet and I've never seen anything from Gulzar that is of low calibre.
thefountainhead100 on Thursday, June 12, 2008 ive translated with the knowledge that i have of urdu.. i agree that i did not get everythin hundred percent ... i was just refering to this song and by no means the whole of urdu poetry or the language Vs Tamil !! it wud hav been immature (like dubai3000)
but anyways... gulzar is indeed a very good poet... am lucky to know both these languages.. i get to enjoy the lyrics in both versions :)
