Rafi saab was an extremely talented artist. His voice a gift from God.
Thus, we should not infuse religion with music, for music knows no
religion. We should thank our stars that we are born in this era and to be
able to enjoy the voices of Rafi, Lata, Asha, Mukesh, etc. Let's enjoy
their voices and leave religion alone.

Alap in the antara was by the great Ustaad Amir Khan.

The beauty of the song is beyond compare and words. Why do we try to look for flaws and not just try to enjoy? All credit to the singer, the composer and the lyricist - all greats of our times in their fields. Kudos and thanks to Bahlamita for uploading the song. Happy listening and wishing to have more such gems!!!

@dizgirlpwincesh: No, it is Hameer. In fact, quite pure Hameer, actually,
which is very unusual in movie songs.

Music has no Religion and what you are watching the Best anybody can EVER produce.

appearancecause on Saturday, October 30, 2010
@prabhurashmi religion is not important , but can a human be called human without religion?animals don't care of religion.Although rafi sahab sang this bhajan and its truly and example of respect of each other's religion. Its better to accept each other's religion than to avoid each other's religion . isn't it? ..sarv dharm sambhav

life of Introspection on Wednesday, November 10, 2010
@appearancecause Hey friend, I agree with you that mutual respect is very
important for religions. But I would say Humans have always misused
religions to suit their preferences. Humans do have religions and that is
one of the reasons why they are such spoilt species and animals are better
without it. Religions were made for the betterment of mankind and the
planet but some wise people always end up using it exactly for the opposite
reason. It is really very sad.

Mohan Udiavar on Wednesday, November 17, 2010
excellent singing of raag hamir. by rafi saab, who is the artist who has
lent his voice for the aalap

appearancecause on Sunday, November 21, 2010
@niharika238 1st) Humans misuse almost everything so thats not reason for elimination religion.should we eliminate ability to think coz its most misused item.2nd)how can you say animals are better?Ignorance is not a bliss in every case ;)

life of Introspection on Sunday, November 21, 2010
@appearancecause Hi there, First of all thanks for replying :) I would like
to point my views again.. 1.) I was not referring to the elimination of
religions just that they are not being followed the way that would benefit
the believers and the mankind. 2.) I humbly disagree that the "ability to
think" is synonymous with "believing in religions" :) 3.) Animals are not
victims of "ignorance" it is that they have limited capabilities so they
follow many rules better than humans :).

@prabhurashmi you are right, we should not mix anything into music

His Master's Voice through His Excellency, Gayak-Kalakaar Mohammad Rafi. Rafi must have truly been a Sufi in previous births! Awesome singer..and a Life Divine! One of Modern India's Ratnas or Diamonds.

Centuries will pass before another voice of his calibre, elocution and
style will be gifted to this planet again. No body could ever reach to his
hights. He had complete control in all sorts of variations in singing.A
simple and naive personality. He could naturally justify the poetic lyrics
and I think the poets created these inspired by his voice as they could
imagine his immortalising their creations just as the composers did, there
is no match for this legend. May God bless him. (23-01-2011)

sajhab on Friday, February 11, 2011
@boiragirules Yes Dilip Kumar is not a proper sitar player but the kind of perfectionist he has always been, for this song picturisation he took serious sitar lessons to match his finger movements perfectly. Where have those great singers, composers, directors and actors have gone??

kamalqa1 on Saturday, February 12, 2011
@sajhab Music Director Naushad Shahab told in his interview that Dilip Kumar took 2 years to learn sitar playing before doing this music shooting, just for this song the movie took 2 years extra time to release.

@Tony Hmm you seem to be in the mood to start a fight, I guess?
Unfortunately I don't really have time for that, I am sorry if you didn't
realize that I was giving the musicians of this song the highest praise, I
don't see how that makes me narrow minded... Anyways, if you have any
problems that you are going through, do take your frustrations out on a
pillow, this forum is for celebrating music, not insulting others... Ahh I
can never forget the melody of this song!! Thank you, Bahlamita!

Rafi sahab has rendered so many classical songs. All of them are awesome and it is difficult to judge the best !! However I would consider this as ONE of the very best.. The picturization is also marvelous and Dilip Kumar sahab has enacted it so well on screen. A fantastic composition by Naushad sahab and fabulous lyrics by Shakeel sahab. This upload is having the finest audio and video quality as always. Crystal clear !! I thank you so much for this upload.

Rafi Saab. The most versatile singer of all. His singing repertoire had no limit. He is incomparable. He is unique. We have heard thousands and thousands of other singers, and some very good trying to sing his songs, today, noone has come even 75% close. And let us not forget that he had only days to rehearse and practice a new song. He had the ability of transforming lyrics with a composition into the most beautiful song. The man stands very high. Let us all look up and admire his greatness.

I saw this movie at Capitol theater, Sri lanka in 1960s,. I was a Only 15yrs old and student of Ananda College Colombo. At Ananda college Hostel there were few students mad about Hindi Movies . One night we managed to scoop out of Hostel and went to Capitol theater watch this movie(9.30pm show). On our return around mid night we got caught to the warden and received some caning punishment all of us.When I listen to this beautiful song my memory goes back to my childhood.
