pranabtezpur on Friday, November 23, 2007
To the indians who knows very little about Assam and assamese, a bit more
information on this song. This is an old and very patriotic Assamese song
by Bhupen Hazarika that he composed in 1962. He wrote this song as a
dedication to the fallen Assam Rifles soldiers who faught valiantly against
chinese invasion in 1962.

pranabtezpur on Friday, November 23, 2007
The song also featured in the assamese film "Maniram Dewan"(who was the
Mangal Pandey of Assam) made in 1963. The original assamese lyric is simply
a priceless composition. I am quoting first few lines below.(Aai in
assamese means mother - is refering to the homeland)

pranabtezpur on Friday, November 23, 2007
Buku ham ham kare mor Aai (My heart is greiving, my mother) Kune Nidra Hare
mor Aai (I losing my sleep, my mother) Putra Hoi moi Ki Mote Taru (I am
your son, how can I see this happening) Aai Tu Re Hoi Moi Maru (My mother,
for you I give my life)

IAmAflatoon on Saturday, February 02, 2008
the bengali version of this song is used in a famous Bangldeshi film
"Shimana Periye" in 1977. Music was obviously composed by Mr. Hazarika and
also sung by him

If I am not wrong, I remember, in one of interview of Bhupen, he said
something abt this song. He said, he and his friend were wondering in
Assam's urban area, where they heard the boy (boy use to take his goats to
hilly areas for feeding them)signing this song (i think this is folk song).
This is really gr8 song.

P.B.Sreenivas . LET US SALUTE ALL OF THEM FOR KEEPING INDIAN MUSIC ALIVE
FOR GENERATIONS TO COME .

Rupam Dey on Tuesday, November 04, 2008
Please for your information the original song is from the Bangla Film
SHIMANA PERIYE(1977), Bhupen Hazarika composed the music to his film, and
therefore adapted the song for the film Rudaali. So for your kind
information there is alot of difference between a copy and an adaptation,
with all due respect how can Bhupenda copy his own composition,When he is
the creator of it! By the way you have a very anti-india stance, its very
noticeable in your Rhetoric,

Rupam Dey on Tuesday, November 04, 2008
I would ike to mention the real original version of this song was released
in 1963 in the indian film Maniram Dewan(Assamese language). So it is not a
COPY of a bangla song!

Eshaa Bannerjee on Friday, December 19, 2008
OMG ! Why are you guys fighting in such a way...using such a
language...does your religion or country teach you to behave like this ????
no country, no mother, no god tells the followers to behave in such a
way...if any religion or teaching teaches so do inform me.

one of the greatest musician composer singer born in india.Greatest
assamese singer of all time.

Sanjog Kusumwal on Wednesday, December 24, 2008
The original song in assamese is much more beautiful than the other
versions(bengali and hindi).the word 'ham ham' is foreign in hindi and
bengali. but the original assamese words are used in both the versions
because there is no eqivalant word for 'ham ham'in hindi and bengali. 'ham
ham' means a kind of deep pain and burning(sorrow) in heart.

Sanjog Kusumwal on Wednesday, December 24, 2008
The original song in Assamese is a kind of patriotic song composed and sung
by Bhupen Hazarika in 1963.He was young at that time and his voice was much
more manly than this hindi version.

It is either irony or human tragedy that most of the best themes for arts
have been derived from individual or collective human depreviations.

prajwallalitha on Friday, January 16, 2009
this is the movie Rudaali and , Dimple does not cry , as her sect or caste
( mind me int eh movie , pl do not scold me ) or ladies in that group have
to cry if some one dies , and they will get money for crying , and dimple
does not cry at all , Oh I remember watching with my brother in Doordarshan
T.V channel when I was in 8th or 10th grade , and I cried and he scoffed at
me !!

Sanjog Kusumwal on Friday, January 16, 2009
After reading so many filthy comments given by anjaan1971 i was sure that
he has nothing better to do in his life than wasting his time giving such
comments. i checked his profile and it has rightly said he is 'jobless'. it
was obvious. an empty mind is a devil's workshop.

dil hoom hoom kare my heart is beating (from fear?) dhane dhum dhum kare
the clouds are roaring (with thunder) This is about people in the desert
and their love.but what is most precious to them?-water "The clouds are
roaring (thunder) but the only water that is flowing is from my
eyes.(because I am scared/sad)" (approximate meaning).

heroniotimi on Monday, March 30, 2009

without you i am nothing..oh, more chandrama.tarey chandani hum ko
jala...ha ha ha ha.i love this song.writer write very beautifull
song and also very beautifull sing..very good voice..

bobbyfaith on Thursday, April 23, 2009
Don't take it as a criticism but your translation of last line "The clouds
are roaring ..I am scared/sad)" is not correct. Basically, in the song the
singer is pleading "That let there be a drop of tear from my eyes". The
meaning can be understood after one has watched the movie in which the
protagonist (Dimple) is of the kind who cannot cry (by shedding tears)
however bad the news is and hence she is saying... "At least now (when my
husband is dead) let there be a drop of tear in my eyes"

bobbyfaith on Thursday, April 23, 2009
no no you got it all wrong... this is not what the movie is about. The
women who are supposed to cry are professional mourners hired to cry during
funeral. The movie depicts the story of a women who cannot cry at all
however bad the news is... but in the end she cries for the first time when
she hears her mother died and after that first cry she ended up being a
successful professional mourner.. converted into a Rudali. Hope I could
explain. Thanks

prajwallalitha on Thursday, April 23, 2009
I know dimple could not cry and that crying is their job , but you
explained it beautifully , Thanks yaar . !!!

RaXethaythedemonman on Thursday, April 23, 2009
I did say "approximate meaning". However your translation is better, I
never even saw the movie by the way.

Jayanthi Nadig on Wednesday, May 06, 2009
