We know what's right and what is wrong. We have conscience. Secular societies have social norms developed from hundreds of years of close coexistence between men. And, if you ever get around to listening to this song, or checking the video info, you will see that it's not an Ave Maria either. It's in it's original German and written before it was rewritten into an Ave Maria.
I honestly have nothing to get over.

In the fill the track was used while the lead protagonist, essentially Satan, was relaxing in his shop enjoying brandy while the townspeople were (his doing) tearing each other limb from limb and leveling the town. It was a humorous touch as the character was drawn out to be somewhat cordial and cultured, even a little likeable so it was kind of funny he's in zen while just out the window the place is falling to pieces. Like tongue in cheek.
