Its more like the older they get, the more technology develops, and the better makeup (and such products) get. So since we have so many products now, they can actually use it to make themselves look even better.
For example, the hair straightener (straightening iron) wasn't there when this movie was made. And look how poofy kajol's hair is (altho she looks amazing all the same!).
