It is not Aarzu Lucknowi, The poet is Fayyaz Hashmi. I had this 78 RPM record and at the back it was 'Maney Aaj Piya Piya Honto Ka Piyala'. Both songs were written by late Fayyaz Hashmi and the music director was of course Pankaj Mullick Saheb.

Fayyaz Hashmi's songs were very popular those days: he wrote most of he songs for which Kamal Dalgupta gave music, and all those (non-filmy, private) songs were hugely popular. I remember so many of those songs my parents used to enjoy and I used to listen to as a small child...songs also by Jagmohan, Hemant Kumar, Talat etc. Sigh...bygone days. I am almost 69 now and wonder how many will continue to appreciate the artists of those days, and lilsten to those wonderful songs..

Good songs are always praised. My daughter who is 36 praised it recently when I was listening to it from my collection at my computer. The problem is that nowdays we do not hear such songs quite often as we used to listen them from Radio Ceylone in our time.

No words to express my gratitude to you for uploading this song. It brings tears in my eyes every time I listen to this song as I am flooded by memories of my father who used to sing this song in my childhood. This song has a special relationship with me and my childhood even though I am 50+ now.

What a song,I was a child around 5 in 1954 when my Mom used to sing this song and others...Jagmohan,.K.L.saihgal,Pankaj mallick...even today I search for such rytheme,melody,control of voice and virtually no musical instruments... They were Masters...or i got used to listening to them thats how I like them and their songs..
