I admire how Hemant-Da modestly chose Kishore Kumar Ganguli for Rajesh
Khanna realizing that he was the best suited voice for the
Superstar. However, Hemant-Da carefully chose Khanna's character to sing
this song in the movie after his character had been thoroughly treated with
his Paranoid Schizophrenia, to make it natural to sing such a delicate song
only after been through some Mental Health recovery.
Hemant-Da selected himself for the song played with Dharmendra Deol,
"Tum Pukar Lo", as the signature tune for this film.
"Khamoshi" ("Silence") was Produced by Hemant Kumar Mukherjee
(Mukhopadhyay) under his film company's name, Geetanjali Productions.
Hemant-Da also was the official Music Composer for the entire film, and he
chose Asit Sen as the director, who later directed "Safar".
The film has a very similar storyline as the American film, "Lilith",
starring Warren Beatty with the Mental Health Counselor role that was
portrayed in "Khamoshi" by Waheeda Rehman as a Psychiatric Nurse.
