set of layers, the basis of which is the heart and really loving someone.
beyond that we all have different layers of other things that matter,
social, moral, expectations of one another etc, and all of these may be
different for each person, with a different weight for its importance. if
one of those layers is broken, or breached then ...

some level you connect with someone at an emotional level but there are
practical issues that may keep you apart. as far as i am concerned emotions
haven't got the barriers that people do, and a broken barrier between two
people doesn't need to affect your emotions. if the layer/barrier is one
that can be fixed then it depends on the faith you have in the strength of
how you feel, and security that it wont be broke again
