amazing song...so refreshing..so great...

Hemant Panchpor on Tuesday, September 15, 2009
ENGLISH MEANING. Man./Woman (Prani) asks his/her God, "How can I get you?".
God says, "You get (conquer) your mind, and you will get me." Your mind is
your own mirror. Good or Bad, it(mind) sees and shows (to yourself) all
your actions (Karma). Mind is Goddess(Devata) and Mind is God(Eshwar),
nobody is more important than mind. When the light(Purity) of mind spreads,
the world becomes knowledgeable. Please don't let dust gather on this clean
mirror(mind).

Hemant Panchpor on Tuesday, September 15, 2009
Buds of happiness and thorns of sorrow-mind is basis for all. Nothing can
be kept hidden from the mind, mind has thousands of eyes. One can run
away(hide something) from the world, but not from the mind. Asset of body
is like reducing like fainting shadow, but value of the mind is very high.
For the sake of body, don't ignore the value of the mind. If you forget the
value of the mind, even if you are a diamond(celebrity), you lost your
life. Hemant

such a beautiful song my cousin sings this bhajan in church and it got
stuck in my head i had to hear it.

Hemant Panchpor on Sunday, September 27, 2009
'Mann` is Mind. `Heart`is `Dil` or `Hriday`.

aayou on Monday, December 21, 2009
@Aadeshnath

In punjabi, mann means dil.

Hemant Panchpor on Tuesday, December 22, 2009
Mann is mann. Dil is dil. Whether in Hindi or Punjabi. Mann cannot be shown
to others, but Dil can. Mann is not an organ, Dil is. Mann is mind that is
created by your thoughts but brain gives the mind power to think.

aayou on Tuesday, December 22, 2009
I think we are driving at the same thing but I disagree with your characterization of mann as mind. Dil is used metaphorically, not as an organ, when describing mann. The mind has the property to reason. Mann does not. It is primarily driven by emotions. (mera mann bahut udaas hai). It is one's dil, and not mind that is sad.

Hemant Panchpor on Wednesday, December 23, 2009
Since the song writer knows both the words i.e. Dil and Mann; there is a
reason why he chose Mann and not Dil. Conscience (Vivek) with the help of
Brain (Mastisk) does the job of providing reasons through Sanskara or
upbringing. That's why people like this song as it does Sankara on Mann or
mind. Dil is generally used to show 'sponteneous reaction', and Mann is
used to show 'cultivated reaction'.

jazeez100 on Monday, January 25, 2010
@Aadeshnath I think mann is desire in this song. Desire is found in mind and heart. I think the poet wanted to explain how desire has many avenues.

Hemant Panchpor on Thursday, January 28, 2010
Desire in Hindi is Echha, Akansha, Manokamana and many others. Again, the
writer knows them all, there is reason to use Man, as explained earlier.

jazeez100 on Thursday, January 28, 2010
Now you are talking sanskirt. Man is desire broken urdu (Hindi) and it is poet not writer.

galacticmightyjoe on Saturday, February 06, 2010
Mann is mind, Conscience.. How beatiful this song is.. The song says your mind is the mirror which shows all good and bad you did.. Maybe u hide it from everyone, but your inner self knows what you did..

jag se chaahe bhaagle koi
mann se bhaag na paaye..
awesome..

becoz of 500 char limit... posting xlation across comments... part1: The
creature asked the Creator By what way shall I find you? The Lord replied,
Find your mind, and youll find me. Your mind is known as the mirror. Deeds,
good and bad, it watches and shows all! (Your mind is known as the mirror!)
...continued

poornarasa on Wednesday, March 10, 2010
part 2: Mind is celestial, mind is God, None there is higher than the mind.
Whenever, wherever The minds light spreads (Then, there) the world is lit!
On this mind-mirror, O Creature, Let not dirt ever set! (Your mind is known

Nothing at all Can hide from the mind, The mind has a thousand eyes! Maybe
someone Can run away from the world, But none Can run away from the mind!
(Your mind is known as the mirror!) ..continued

Final part: The wealth of the body Is but a fleeting shadow, Whereas ,
Priceless Is the wealth of the mind! Because of the body Do not rub and

mirror!)

One of the memorable songs penned by poet Sahir Ludhianvi, rendered so
beautifully by Asha Bhosle. I have always adored this song from the day one.

" Man se koyi baath chupena, man ka nain hazaar " . This is the concept of the " Chithraguptha " who records all our Good and Evil deeds( Paap aur Punya ). He sits not by the side of " Yama " , but at our heart only. Chithra Guptha means , who secretly/miraculasly (Chithra ) preserves ( Guptha ), and indeed we can not hide any thing from ourselves.-Arani.Apparao-Hyderabad-A.P.

Does anyone know where I can have the meaning in English?

shani d on Saturday, May 26, 2012
Oh thank you, this is indeed a marvelous bhajan.

piyaal7up on Wednesday, June 13, 2012
This one song isn't mere normal bhajan nor devotional song , but the lyric
reveals the intrinsic value of human-life. The community of religious
people need to understand and act with their conscious mind and body to
achieve their spiritual goals. The summary of Buddhist philosophy has been
condensed within this song. Its meaning is that your mind is your real
mirror . Mind happens to be your God, so there is nothing greater than
MIND. In Paali verse...mano setthaa mano mayaa. ( DHAMMAPAD )

"मन एक दर्पण है, दिल की हर बात इस पर साफ़-साफ़ अंकित रहती है, चेहरा इसकी
किताब है, दिल के हर एक पन्ने का एक शब्द इस पर साफ़ झलकता है... इस लिए जो दिल
में है वह दर्पण रूपी चहरे से नहीं चुप सकती."

Every word is very truthfully expressed love this song my all time favorite.

parkash sharma on Friday, September 28, 2012
When I was watching this movie, an old man, after seeing the role of
Dharmendra and Raaj Kumar commented " Sahadatmand aulad waldein ke liye
Allah ki sab se azeem niyamat hai aur sharabi-kababi aulad shaitan ki lanat
hai. But what is today. Such movies are rarest made by film makers.
Unforgettable bhajan.
