Vinod Khanna was at his peak giving tough time to Amitabh. Vinod Khanna and Shabana Azmi were a good pair and were also starred in Amar, Akbar, Anthony and Parvarish.

only comment on masculinity and on looks since I am in a position to
understand that. Since your reply spoke of acting skills, I cannot speak
with any authority. All I know is that acting skills are dependant upon 1.
what the script, 2. screenplay and 3. the director wants you to do. I have
always found Vinod's persona (physical and otherwise) to be far more
proportional than Amit's. Amit is too tall, lanky, too angry

I remember having watched Amitabh and Vinod together in several films (Zameer, Hera Pheri, Muqaddar ka Sikander, Amar Akbar Anthony etc.); Amitabh always stole the limelight in spite of not exactly being an Adonis (keeping in mind the script, etc.)
