nickkohri on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 I'm afraid both the gentlemen are bit off the truth. The recording session was ready but Talat failed to show up. So with everybody waiting, Chitalkar recorded it himself in his most Talat-like style. After this Talat & CR fell-out with each other, and CR never gave another song to Talat - a sad ending to a long fruitful melodious partnership.

This was not a situation where Talat was simply unavailable - it was a big emotional cracker. After this CR switched to Mahendra Kumar for all Talat-style vocal requirements (Stree, Navrang, Anchal etc).

Both were music geniuses, but were always fighting with the movie producers - who actually paid their wages! Sajjad quit Hulchul after composing only 3 songs because Producer/Director K. Asif was "advising" him about song sequences! OP gave music for mostly C-grade movies. The big producers just did not want to work with these 2. Naushad spoke highly of Talat - but gave him songs in only 1 movie Babul!
