I think he was born in that very city. the city founded by king Shahpour 1. I have also thought in the past about cities in India ending in "pur" like kanpur. To me it looks like Persian as in Kanpour. Of course the Brits had their own spelling for it as Cawnpore. this world never stops, does it?

After the occupation of Persia by the Arabs, the official language had to change. Therefore, letter P in many words changed to B because Arabic language does not have the sound of P.
