key in such films and didn't take the backseat it does in societies the

people just accept it and its a sorry state of what is historically a great
advanced nation and culture. India will take decades to reach even China's
level right now in terms of GDP per capita and decent control over
inflation. People are suffering and it makes me sad seeing that in the
country of my families heritage. A smaller amount of control by the British
raj should have remain when granting independence.

corruption or corruption at all if it was still or even partially under
british rule? No! then again in developed countries there may still be
essences of corruption that goes unnoticed by the media and the genral
public, but corruption like you said is second nature in india and other
underdeveloped countries, which explains why such incidents and scandals
may be so prevalent in india's media!

snobby and upmarket side to england as it looks down on modern england,

is because of the lack of resources and the hunger for money. Think, if
government posts such as becoming a police officer were high paid then
people would not feel the need to accept bribes. For most families the need
to provide for the family takes priority over trying to fix the country and
that is why people would rather do professions such as becoming a doctor
rather than getting their hands dirty in politics.
