calvintoronto on Monday, February 22, 2010
The end credits gave me an amazing rush when I saw them. The movie was fine.but these end credits--their movement, the pastiche--suddenly grabbed me in the way the film didn't.

Phangirl101 on Friday, February 26, 2010
This movie hardly shows true Indian culture. our Bollywood movies are more
accurate portrayals. IDK, I mean if you like the movie, then yay, but I
don't think it really represents India.

IndianGirlFromBombay on Saturday, March 27, 2010
I luv A R Rahman he is aweesome!!!

FangnclawX on Friday, April 09, 2010
@Phangirl101 I suppose your right, though I still think it's a lovely love
story

Links1776 on Sunday, April 11, 2010
It's sad when the end credits are better than the whole movie. I am huge fan of Danny Boyle, and I couldn't believe how mediocre this film turned out. I couldn't believe how rushed the third act was. It was like "ok the evil character who deserves a punishment worse then death magically sees the light and wants to do good." The two leads had no chemistry and the romance was forced. It is also sad that this film was nominated over The Wrestler and The Dark Knight.

jazzcrank on Saturday, April 17, 2010
its not suppose to make the Indians look good

melifyable on Saturday, July 24, 2010
there many valid criticisms of this movie. but for people who don't know
india well, does it give a small taste of culture and recent history? what
would you recommend instead?

Phangirl101 on Saturday, October 16, 2010
@anniemariea3221 Yes, but it's shown negatively, making India look like it
is always like this. Anyone watching the movie who doesn't know anything
about India will assume that it's a country of slums and crime, which it is
NOT. It really irritates me when people say things such as "India's so
scary" because of this movie. It's a good movie for those who aren't quick
to judge; it ISN'T a good movie for those who know nothing about what India
is truly like. That's why I dislike this movie.

Phangirl101 on Saturday, October 16, 2010
@melifyable It doesn't give an accurate portayal of India. Even the
fairytale-ending "sob-story" Bollywood movies portray culture and
traditions better. Watch them, but remember those also have some fantasy
elements in the sense that not every person in India lives like they do.
Movies are like stories, they have a hint of truth, but you have to know
about the country itself to understand what the truth is. The thing w/
Slumdog is the truth is hidden by stereotypical horrors that are untrue.

Phangirl101 on Saturday, October 16, 2010
@Phangirl101 However, keep in mind this is just my opinion. If you like the
movie, then so be it; I'm not trying to get you to hate the movie or
anything.

Potterfan89 on Monday, October 25, 2010
Does anybody know where I can find the real end credit scene? Or does youtube keep removing them cuz of copyrights?

Anik Das on Wednesday, October 27, 2010
techinqually diz is a good movie but anywayz i just wanna kno sumthin am i
considerd indian being born in india mii moms from rajasthan, india and dad
from bangladesh so like i have no idea which country i represent

INDUSStudios on Monday, November 01, 2010
@Phangirl101 she (I am assuming here) is DEFINITELY right, modern Indian
culture is actually more advanced then they portrayed here, what do you
expect from a foreigner( canadian) makign a movie about indian culture -_-
although a good portion of this story is also true. Jai Hind

Phangirl101 on Wednesday, December 29, 2010
@Lalalandgirl235 Yes, but I highly doubt you would like it if Hollywood
portrayed your "culture" as a bunch of slums and people who handicap kids
for their own benefits. I would not mind this movie at all if I didn't keep
getting comments like "India seems so scary!!" Really, when an outsider, so
to speak, portrays a country they have to be very careful not to offend the
people of that country. This movie has offended not only me but many of my
Indian friends.

melifyable on Thursday, December 30, 2010
not to say slumdog millionaire is an accurate portrayal, but i don't see it
as making india look bad. while there are some easy stereotypes as an
alternative to character development, and shallow people will make comments
like "wow india looks so scary" without looking at similar portrayals in
movies about the u.s., for example, or in life around them. anyway i think
many of the characters are beautifully human, and represent. for children
in poverty, for gangsters, and for friends.

melifyable on Friday, December 31, 2010
@Phangirl101 i appreciate yr comments about outsiders representing
inaccurately. but i'm really curious what is inaccurate. i.e. i think would
be nice if we could learn from a major motion picture how large
corporations--mostly american-based--have been stealing traditional
farmers' ancestral lands & destroying communities, families, & the
environment. & i actually really would like to see more movies about
poverty, traffickers, and slums in my country (the u.s.), if they are
accurate.

Degrassi90210lol on Wednesday, March 09, 2011
everyone in my school likes this movie!!! and most of them are white/asian

justine381971 on Sunday, March 20, 2011
. up on going to India last year, this does show the true Indian culture. kids begging, slums everywhere the one thing i did notice though is, through all the hardship, they smile. more brits should go it would make ungrateful british sit up and realise whats wrong in this world.

NiarLiu on Thursday, October 20, 2011
I am Chinese and I don't even know a single word of this song. But everytime i feel tired or frustrated, I come to here and listen to this song. I feel I am motivated by the melody constantly. For those people who are struggling with their painful lives: Guys, nothing easy in this mad world. Don't you dare give up yourself. Whatever the things you're doing right now, just keep it up. BUDDHA BLESS YOU ALL. BUDDHA BLESS INDIA. plz thumbs me up, so this comment could be more helpful.

Point Place on Monday, December 12, 2011
@ModestyBeautyHijab Hindi and Urdu are the same spoken language.

ajtiger1995 on Friday, February 17, 2012
I def agree with you. It only shows the slums of India, but its still a great movie. :)

Irina Volganova on Thursday, January 24, 2013
Bollywood movies are more accurate portrayals? I want to learn more about
Indian culture. Could you suggest me some movie titles that portray Indian
culture?

Irina Volganova on Thursday, January 24, 2013
oohhmmm where are the lyrics and subtitles?!

Irina Volganova on Thursday, January 24, 2013
It makes for a nice change actually. How many popular Bollywood movies ever
even show the slums? Life isn't always rosy..
