Zauq's genius is reflected in this ghazal.

ZindagikaSafar786 on Friday, September 10, 2010
Its not ghalib. Its Ibrahim Zauq.

Life brought us to this world, and hence we came,
Death made us leave this world, and hence we leave,
Neither we came to this world excited nor we leave it happily.
It is better that we don't get too attached to this world
But what can one do when everything in this world gets attached to you.
Since when has the world been with someone who is a loser
So just go along with the going wherever it leads you to.

we did nt come here with our own choice nor do we leave with our own choice ..it is better that one does not fall in love with this world or get too emotionally attached(as we all lose everything one day),but what can one do as it is difficult to live without it.the world has helped noone in this journey which is bound to end ,you also keep going like the rest of them before you, for as long as you can

With what a deep devotedness of woe
I wept thy absence - o'er and o'er again
Thinking of thee, still thee, till thought grew pain,
And memory, like a drop that, night and day,
Falls cold and ceaseless, wore my heart away!
"Thomas Moore"
Thanks a ton for the beautiful thoughts and lines which reflects the golden heart you have. That`s all we can do, to pray that May Allah give him great place in heaven. (cont`d)

He was legend in his own style ...1st. person used QUITAR in ghazzels !

@yunus203 @yunus203 : salute Jagjit for Mausiqi and Bhupinder for his haunting voice also, I heard it rendrered by KL Saigal, Begum Akhthar, Iqbal Bano, Shruti Shidolikar and others. No match for this version.

I listen to this video very often. I have also found the place where Zauq is burried in Paharganj, New Delhi. It is very well done except a person who has acted as Momin Khan Momin is in the funeral prcession. However, Momin Khan Momin died few years before Ibrahim Zauq.
From Prof Mahesh Sharma e-mail: msharma@jmsb.concordia.ca. Thanks
