I've been there and never heard anyone say that before. It's just the music industry. You'll find some American hiphop/rap songs with those kinds of things in there, and that's probably (probably) where they got this from.

I've seen it a lot in Indian movies I've watched. It's confusing as heck- you're reading the subtitles, then stop because they're speaking english, then out of nowhere they'll switch back and you're not reading below so you lose some of it...

Serena2009ification on Thursday, December 16, 2010 I know in Japan, some of the more educated young people are starting to prefer to converse with each other in English because it makes them feel more empowered. I am not sure if young people in India are doing the same thing, or if this was just an impression I got from having watched a movie.
Well, I do know a woman who goes to India once or twice per year + has for a long time. I guess I will just have to ask the next time I see her. :)

I could totally see where education might have something to do with it, as studying English is pushed more extensively in academic circles for the sake of international business. Still, I am still a bit confused---English-speakers use words from other languages in different ways----some of us will be polilingual and even speak more than one language at home, some of us might know a few sentences here or there, and some might know just a few words.
